The new STL theme for the 2011-2012 year is "Relentless: After the One" (Luke 15:4). Jesus says that a shepherd caring for his flock would leave the ninety-nine in order to find the one sheep that was lost. The implication is that he would not relent until he was successful. When he found the sheep, he would call for a celebration.
Our mission as believers is clear. We are to work towards the salvation of every individual on the earth. Every person matters and every soul is valuable to God...so much so that heaven rejoices in celebration when even one person decides to follow Christ. It is important that these principles be instilled in the hearts and minds of our students. Passionate participation is an acknowledgement and embrace of Jesus' cause. His mission is the reason we strive to provide our missionaries with the "essential transportation and creative communication" tools they need for effective evangelism.
Take some time to explore this website, checking out all the resources available to assist you in taking Speed the Light giving to new levels in your church. The Digisource tab will be of particular interest. This powerful interface is now offered online for free! It includes STL strategies, fund-raising ideas, discipleship tools, STL pics, service plans, and media resources.
Let me also encourage you to set aside a special service to feature the ministry of Speed the Light and highlight those who are giving their lives to serve in mission fields both overseas and in the U.S. STL Day is officially the 3rd Sunday in October (Oct. 16, 2011), but you can choose any day for your missions service. Challenge the adults of your church to partner with students so that our missionaries can be well equipped to carry the gospel message to the lost. Missionaries share testimonies on a regular basis about the significant impact of STL on their ministry; many of them indicating that their ministry would not even be possible without the vehicles and equipment you help provide.
